Countable noun is a noun that can be counted. This noun is divided into two kinds, namely: singular (noun can be counted single) and plural countable (nouns can be calculated plural). In the plural form, the change of the noun form follows the regular or irregular rules.

Regular Countable Noun
The regular rule pattern of singular changes to plural countable noun as follows:
1.   Nouns ending in -o, and the previous letter vowels are added by -es suffix
Examples: Tomato-tomatoes, potato-potatoes, mangoes
2.   Nouns ending in –s, -x, -ch, -sh, -ss, added the -es suffix.
Examples: Gas-gases, box-boxes, peach-peaches, bush-bushes, loss-losses.
3.   Nouns ending in -y and previous consonant letters then the suffix -y are omitted and then the suffix -ies are added.
Examples: Company-companies
4.   One syllable noun ends with -f or -fe then the suffix -f or -fe is omitted and the suffix -ves.
Examples: wife-wives
5.   Other nouns are added suffix –s
Examples: Book-books

Irregular Countable Noun
Here is the example of singular and plural in Irregular Countable Noun:
Alga-algae, alumnus-alumni, child-children, datum-data, fish-fish, foot-feet, man-men, woman-women, mouse-mice, person-people, tooth-teeth.
